Deck Materials
Deck building involves selecting and working with a variety of building materials. In the years past your choices were limited to pressure treated wood, cedar, or redwood.
Today your choices are not so simple. The options range from composite decking made from recycled plastics to a wide variety of domestic lumber. If your trying to accomplish a custom look or reduce maintenance, there are many composite deck solutions to fit your needs.
Deck materials must be able to withstand the powerful forces of nature over years of exposure to the elements. Factors such as severe temperature changes, intense sun, rain, snow, and wind will put any material to the test of longevity.

How to Clean A Deck
All decks even low maintenance decks require regular cleaning to keep looking and performing well. Over time leaves, dirt, mold, and mildew will create a film over an outdoor deck that looks ugly and can be slippery. Most people give their deck at least one good cleaning every Spring. Depending on the amount of dirt and leaves in your area you may need to clean the deck more frequently. We recommend using a green deck cleaner
There are several good products on the market.
Remove all furniture, grills, and objects from the deck.
Sweep the deck removing all loose dirt and leaves.
Remove debris trapped between the boards using a slender tool.
Rinse the deck off using a garden hose or pressure washer. When using a pressure washer be sure to raise the nozzle a few feet off the deck to prevent damaging the wood.
Prepare your green deck cleaner by mixing the granular formula into a bucket of water.
Apply the cleaner to the deck by working the foam into the deck with a stiff bristle brush or push broom. Allow the foam to sit on the deck for about 15 minutes.
Rinse the foam off the deck with a garden hose or pressure washer.
If a stain persists, repeat the process as necessary.
